Frogmouths and a frog pouch

Its been a very warm January here. As a result I have been doing more reading than sewing. Burying my head in a book, when its to hot to do much seemed like a good idea at the time...
On a particularly vile hot day I escaped with my little one to visit my Dad and his wonderful air conditioning. It was 43 degrees C (109 F) outside and just way too hot to bear. A couple of other creatures also decided that my Dad's place would be their haven that day. Two Tawny Frogmouth's. They were perched in a Sycamore Tree and a Gum tree. Its quite rare to see these amazing birds. Mainly because they blend into their surroundings so well. The poor things were just sitting there panting and trying to get through the heat.

I went back a few days later and they were still there, but there were three of them, a family. Alas I didnt have a camera handy then. They have since moved on, but it was wonderful getting to see them.

There has been some actual crafting as well. Whilst going through one of my cupboards I found a bit of embroidery I had done a while back.

So I decided to do something with it, and turned it into an unusually shaped and sized zippered pouch.
Its quite large, and you can fit lots in it.

More sewing and crafting coming soon.

Happy Crafting and Reading to you all!

I love when you post about the flora and fauna there--I learn so much! The frog bag is wonderful--I love the log-cabin-type framing around the frogs. Beautiful... pretty and practical--love that! Happy Days :o) ((HUGS))
