Imagine my surprise on Sunday when I ended up making a version of Barnaby Bear by the talented Amanda Rebbeck of Little Red Pear. He's on the cover of Homespun above.

Our version was decidedly female so we called her Barnadette. She's made from an old jumper with raised flowers and purls on the front and back of the body, and a bit of floral fabric. The scarf was a lesson in pure dementia. I'm not the best at knitting its just too awkward for me. So I decided to crochet a little scarf. Crochet scarf great idea - making it out of fluffy multi coloured stuff, very bad idea. Its the first time I've ever crocheted when I couldn't see what I was doing. Its just as well the thin holey parts of the scarf are on the back of the neck. The girls love the bear.

I am really pleased, as its the first softy I have made in what seems like forever. And I still have lots of other things in that issue of Homespun I'd like to make. Like the table runner, and one day I'd like to have a go at making the Winding Ways quilt on the cover. I'll just add them to my ever growing wish list of sewing projects I want to make.
Still going on Home Sweet Home and making slow progress.
Hope everyone is having a great week.
Happy Sewing and Reading till next time.

Oh, I LOVE Barnadette...isn't she pretty, and so stylish with that clever crocheted scarf! I really like how you're recycled and upcycled her using all sort of materials--great work. This would make a lovely gift for kids...big ones and little ones. ;o) Thanks so much for your lovely comment at my place. It's good to be home and back in blogland among my friends again... The jeg lag is finally wearing off--LOL! Happy Days ((HUGS))
What a wonderful project for a wet and windy long weekend. Well done! She's just gorgeous.
thinking of you, Rach.
What a sweet bear. Odd how you have a public holiday for the Queens' birthday and we don't, doesn't seem fair to me!
