Gorgeous Japanese Embroidery Book

A couple of weeks ago this book arrived in the mail from Retro Mummy. The embroidery patterns in it are so CUTE! I want to do them all.
I have no idea what the name of the book is. If anyone out there knows, please tell me.

I've even managed to do one of the embroideries. Alas my apples are not quite apple shape, but I like it! Unfortunately I have no fabric to match it. So it will sit and wait until one day I find something, or I get and idea of what to do with it.

My Iron died

On Saturday night, I was ironing some fabric, as usual I put my faithful iron down to rearrange the fabric on the ironing board, and to my horror I heard "snap, crackle crackle". After ten long years of faithful service my bestest most trusted craft buddy has died.

The iron certainly ironed more fabric than clothes over the years, and it was quite a shock to both of us that it died. I do have another iron that has lived in the cupboard for a few years. Its just a no name iron, no frills just a plain iron. Its going to take me a long time to get used to it. It doesn't have labeled setting just some dots on the dial for heat. Not the same as having labels on the dial for linen, cotton, synthetics, wool and so on.
So farewell faithful craft buddy, you will be missed.

Friday Fabrics Japanese Children's Prints

I got these wonderful fabrics a couple of weeks ago in the post from Corrie of Retro Mummy. They are so cute! I am slowly building up my collection of Japanese children's fabrics. When I think i have enough I will make us a patchwork quilt to snuggle on the couch under.
Even so its very tempting to chop them up and make something out of them now...

Softies for Mirable and catching up

I have found myself driving a lot this last week. My eldest has been unwell, and is also having exams, so there have been lots of trips to the Doctors, and school. Also the weather here in Melbourne has been quite hot and a little psycho all at once. Throw a few days of migraine on top and before you know it another week has passed.


I made a bunny from Nuigurumi Style Book. ISBN 456041792 for Softies for Mirabel, (run by the fabulous Pip from Meet Me at Mikes) and the little one really wanted it. So then I had to make her a bunny,

and while I was there I made a second one for Mirabel.


During this week, I also had a bit of a crisis of confidence. I just had a day of thinking that all the things I have made were awful and no one would ever want them. I'm over it now, thanks to family and some lovely blog visitors. Sometimes comments can make a real difference to your day. Many Thanks to the people that stop and comment, even if I don't manage to reply to you, I appreciate the comments you leave.
I also had a go at making a softie from a drawing of a monster that I did for the littlest one. The prototype turned out terrible, but you live and you learn and you redesign bits here and there. I will have another bash at it soon. I have so many things to make and finish over the next few weeks, so I had better go and get moving.

The last week or so have been filled with many things, from children pushing their boundaries, and mine, to learning how to put zips in a certain way, and lots and lots of running around. There was even a market night at our local kinder a few nights ago. I didn't sell much, but I certainly enjoyed the experience of getting out and meeting new people. It was a lovely night for it.
It still amazes me with all the busyness in my life, that I manage to get some crafting in. I'm quite sure that if I couldn't sew that my family would have me checked into the nearest funny farm as quick as you could blink.

I really enjoyed making these zippered pouches.
