A New Pinafore

Today was busy, the little one and I both had a haircut. I have gone from long to shockingly short, and the little one had her first haircut ever. She had about 2 inches trimmed from the bottom. I must say her hair looks a lot neater now that its even.
In the afternoon I made her Top D from this Japanese girls clothing book ISBN 4579110544. Its a little pinafore, and it only took a couple of hours to make. The longest bit was making all the bias binding. I only have a few scraps left of the deer fabric now as its all been used for clothes. This one I made in size 110cm and its a much better fit. Also the little one loves it, so its a success. I might even make a couple more of these as I can see these being mighty handy.

New Dress

I made this dress for my little one yesterday afternoon. It was quite straight forward to make. The thing that took the longest was making the bias binding for the neck and the pocket trim.

I think I made the dress a size to big. I drafted off the 110cm pattern, but when holding it up against the little one, it didn't look big enough. So I went ahead and made the 120cm size. Overall its a good size for her, except it keeps falling off one shoulder. At least I know it will fit her for a long time !

New Craft Books

I have been dribbling for ages over these books since I saw them posted on various internet sites. Its taken me a long time to be able to get them. Yesterday they came in the post. It was worth the wait.
Crafting Christmas Gifts and Sew Pretty Homestyle by Tone Finnanger are both gorgeous books. They have so many wonderful projects in them, and they all look fantastic. I have no idea where to start.

This gorgeous Japanese Fabric came from Patchwork on Central Park.
I intend to make some clothes for my little one out of it, and perhaps a couple of other things from the scraps.

I adore this Cath Kidston Fabric. I love the little birds amongst the floral sprays. The colours work so well together. Its not a huge piece of fabric, how I wish it were. But it is a piece of fabric that I own.

At last I have managed to get my hands on some of this gorgeous Russian Doll Fabric. Its quite thick and linen like. I can't wait to make something from it. I got it from the fabulous Quilt Fabrics Delights. They have such a great range of fabric there.

A Little Sewing Bag

I made this sewing bag for my niece as a birthday present on Friday. The bag was filled with a little Simple Stitchings stitchery kit by Hatched and Patched and all the little needfuls to make it.

The Bag is made from 1930's reproduction fabrics, a couple of pieces of linen and an old retro pillow slip became the lining. The little ducks just spoke to me so they got included. I had a lot of fun stitching the ducks and making the bag.

Yes its Monday and I have just gotten to my Friday Fabrics post.
I picked up this fabric at Camberwell Market earlier this year. The lady I purchased it from told me that she had designed and printed it herself.
I have no idea of the name so I have called it funky fabric.
Its very reminiscent of the 60's, flower power and women. I like it !

Baby Quilt and Hay fever

I made this up on the weekend. Its a very simple quilt made with simple patchwork and quilting for a little one. It just needs to have some embroidery done on the back as a label and its finished.



I have managed to come down with another sinus infection. I brought some Lilac into the house on Sunday evening. On Monday morning I was sitting at the table in front of it wondering why my head hurt and why it was getting harder to breathe. It took me a bit but I eventually worked out that it was the Lilac and took the flowers outside. Alas the hay fever has turned into an infection and I am not feeling very well. Don't know if there will be much crafting managed this week. Hopefully the antibiotic's and the antihistamines will kick in and all will be well.
Its such a shame as I love Lilac so much, I've never really had hay fever like this before. According to the Doctor its the worst season he has seen in a long time.
