Owlies in Print

One of my little Owlie dolls made it into today's Herald Sun Home magazine. I am so thrilled seeing it there. Many Thanks to Meet Me At Mikes for having the photo shoot and promoting the Owlies.

The Herald Sun is a Australian Daily newspaper. The Herald Sun Home magazine is a supplement that comes with the paper on Saturday.

Friday Fabrics

I found this fabric on sale and couldn't resist it. It has a very 'old world" feel to it, and the little girls dancing are so very charming. I've called this fabric Dancing Girls, but I don't know what the real name of this fabric is. The only thing printed on the selvage is Designed by Ann Bruske for David Textiles Inc. If any one knows what its called, could you please let me know.
The fabric looks much better in real life. Its a very overcast and stormy day here, so the light wasn't to good for photos.

Some bibs

This week I have been working on these bibs for a friend's little one. It has taken me way to long to get around to doing them. So this week instead of making some owlies, I decided to make bibs. The pattern is from a Japanese Handmade Zakka book. (ISBN: 4-579-11017-x). I could have made them from plain fabric, but I really like the patchwork affect.

They are all a bit on the wonky side. I had a lot of fun picking out the fabrics and making them. Four are backed with terry toweling, and two have wadding and are fabric backed. They all close with velcro.
Am hoping to make something else as well before they go in the post.

Sharing a bit of Spring

I have a very small Lilac bush. Its flowers are still in the process of opening. Its so glorious, the scent and the colours.

Our little Primroses, so delicate and ethereal, only flower in Spring. A pale yellow of the most amazing kind, and the very gentlest of scents...

Orange Blossom. A spicy scent and very heady. Our orange tree is huge and quite old. One half of the tree is full of blossom, the other half is full of oranges. Its very strange for it to be like this. The blossoms are thick and heavy and starting to drop on the ground. There are plenty of birds around, and possums too, they all eat the oranges.

Last but not least are some Wallflowers. Such cheery friends, these never fail to stun me with happiness with their bright colours and amazing scent. I am so blessed to have these plants with their glorious blooms in my garden.

We have been Super busy with many activities over the last week. No Friday fabrics got posted last Friday, I will make it up this Friday. The weather has been wonderful lately and we have been out lots doing things, visiting, and attending the Wonderful Wedding of a special friend.
I am hoping to catch up on my much neglected blog reading soon to see what every one's been up to.

Just a few

If any one has been wondering why things have been fairly quiet here over the last month or so, this is why. There has of course been a few other things made as well.

The Owlies are leaving the nest tomorrow to fly to Meet Me At Mikes.

I love this fabric. It looks so old worldly, and dreamy. There are three pieces 50 cm's by 35cms. Just big enough to make something out of. Not sure what yet. All suggestions welcome.
Love Cath Kidston fabrics. I haven't seen any of her fabrics that I don't like . I would love to make a big quilt out of lots of different Cath Kidston fabrics. There are so many and all beautiful. Unfortunately they are quite hard to find out here. This lot came from e-bay.
What Cath Kidston fabrics do you have ? Whats your favorite ? Let me know.

New Bags

I have been such a slack blogger in the last week or so. I haven't been online much at all. Spring has sprung, so wonderful with all the blossom and fine weather, I love it so much. However I am not so fond of the sinus infections that plague me from all the pollen. Whilst I have not been online much, I have been busy polishing off some work for an order. I completely forgot to post about the bags I designed and made the other weekend when that evil migraine struck. Many thanks for the well wishes. I finally got around to taking some pictures of them today in the park.

The beauty of designing your own bag, is making it so it has the things you need. I've had this bag in my head for quite some time. The bag turned out a great size, it will hold a nice chunky book ( I hate going out without a book) and lots of other things. It has two pockets inside, two pockets on the back for quick and easy access to my keys and sunnies. The strap in long enough to go over shoulder, or across my body. The flap closes with a magnetic snap lock. I am so happy with it I have been dragging it everywhere with me over the last week.

The second bag was very quick and simple. Its a lined and appliquéd drawstring bag for my little one's toys. So far its only been used for transporting her dog softies ( she loves dogs) around home and up to Grandma's house. I keep finding it in the lounge room, at least I know she likes it enough to play with it!

I love Holly Hobbie, and have since I was a child. Seeing it as an adult takes me right back to childhood. I love the colours in this print, the Autumn theme and all the wonderful poses. Holly Hobbie is the best!

And the 100th Post Winner is

Congratulations Fiona. Please email me tataniaatgmaildotcom with your snail mail address and I can send the magazines out.

I must apologize for drawing and posting this a day late. I spent the weekend sewing and developed a nasty headache that turned into a migraine late yesterday. I took myself off to bed to sleep away the pain. Unfortunately it lingered and most of today was spent in a vegetative state as well. It feels like its going away now, so all is well.

Thank You to every one that took part in the give aways. I will try and do another one soon as they are great fun.
