A Ride on Thomas

On Saturday a girlfriend and I took my three year old daughter for a day out with Thomas. Thomas is part of the Puffing Billy Railroad that runs in the Dandenong Ranges. We had a wonderful drive through the hills to Emerald Station and a great day out.
First we had a ride on Thomas (steam engine) that went a station and a half from Emerald. The smell of the steam engine was fantastic. It reminded me of all the other happy trips that I have had on Puffing Billy. Then after returning, there was a pantomime with Thomas, The Fat Controller, the Driver and Fireman Jean. At the end of the pantomime we got to see Thomas being turned around on an old fashioned man powered railway turntable (3rd photo down). There was an animal petting zoo, face painting and a trip around Emerald on an old bus called Graham the Grumpy Green Bus. My daughter enjoyed it so much. Lots of "Wow" and "Look Mummy, its Thomas!". She had a the best day. It was a wonderful day with families everywhere. Children of all ages from a few months old to sixty plus had a great time enjoying the special day.
If you get the chance, go and have a ride on Thomas, he's running on the weekends up to the end of March. Its an experience I will treasure for a long time.

Thank You Melly and Me for the Sangsang Pattern

Today the mail man delivered the Sangsang pattern that I won in a giveaway at Melly and Me. I am so lucky. Its fabulous to win a pattern.
It was so nicely packaged, wrapped in tissue paper and red rick rack. It also came with the most gorgeous card, and a little card with a cute little bunny on it.
This pattern is so cute. I will try and make one up over the weekend for our little one. She loves homemade softies.

Gnome Fabric

I have been looking for this fabric for a while now, after seeing it on so many of the US blogs. I love Gnomes! I finally found it at an online store called The Loony Pin in Western Australia and ordered some. It arrived in the mail today. I love getting mail!
The fabric is from Heather Ross's "Lightning Bugs and other Mysteries" range. I just love it !

A new bag and finished dollies

Finally finished the bag I have been working on all week. I really love these fabrics, very feminine. The bag is brighter in real life than the camera portrays. It was overcast outside this morning.
Managed also to get the hair and face's finished on the dollies. I'm not particularly happy with them, but they are finished.

Present's

These two little mini moopie's are presents for two special girls. One is for a little girl who is having her third birthday party today. The other is for her sister, whose 5th birthday I missed last year.
I hope they like them.

Refreshed

Yesterday afternoon I took myself for a drive around the Dandenong's. It was heaven, driving through the forest with the smell of the gum trees. I almost didn't want to go home. I also stopped off at an arboretum in Olinda which had the most amazing views. The picture doesn't do the view justice at all.

Before I hit the forest I went thrifting and found myself a couple of bargin fabrics, a chick lit book, and this lovely looking jumper.

I also went to the Doctor in the morning and found out that I have a virus and that's what has been making me so tired lately. Since the lovely drive yesterday I feel quite refreshed and ready to go and make something.

A long week

Its been what has felt like a long week this week. We are still getting used to the school routine, getting up early and feeling unwell still has made me feel very lethargic, and as a result I haven't managed to accomplish much craft wise. That being said I did manage to reline my Japanese style black and white bag. I had used old thin vintage fabric for the lining, and the snap lock tore right through it one day. So its nice to have that bag back in action.


I managed to make these two teddies for a commission. They are a basic teddy, flat, double stitched and able to go through the washing machine when dirty. They are for children in a pre-school to play with. I hope they have a long and happy life.

I also received this wonderful package in the mail from Amitie for being a VIP Blog member.
It has a membership card, a yoga mat backpack pattern, and some lovely fabric. Very nice to receive in the mail. Thank You Amitie.

My three year old and I spent some time together playing in the sandpit earlier in the week. We had a great time building sand castles and chatting away. This picture is here mainly for me. To remind to have more fun. All work and no play makes Mummy pretty boring company!

Kid Free with Flu

Wouldn't you know it. My first day without the kids all year and I have the flu. Contemplated working on a few projects, but I don't have the energy. I've had a nice quiet nap in peace which has made me feel a little better. Its 31 degrees C which is 87.8 F outside, quite hot. The perfect day for washing and drying fabric!
